Sticky Fingers Cooking School is a mobile cooking school offering cooking classes, incursions and cooking birthday parties to children across Melbourne, Geelong & Ballarat.

We take our mini-master chefs on a journey of whisking, stirring and baking, throwing in a touch of maths, a handful of science, loads of fun and creating some very sticky fingers!

Most of our programs are able to be delivered in a standard school classroom. Even better, we supply all of the ingredients & equipment and look after the setting up and cleaning up, all you have to do is sit back and join in the fun!

Your students will learn important life skills including basic cooking skills, food hygiene and safety, how maths and science come in handy in the kitchen, as well as boosting confidence! We have a number of workshops to choose from, all designed in accordance with the National Curriculum. We are more than happy to customise any of our sessions to best complement what is being studied in class.

Incursions

Snack Art

In our Snack Art workshop, your will create their very own edible work of art using cookie cutters and loads of different fruits, vegetables and other food items. Suitable for Kindergarten, Year 1 & 2 students.
Cooking Skills

Basic Cooking Skills

In this 2 hour workshop, each of your students will create a recipe of their very own! We will discuss cooking techniques, the origin of the ingredients, how the recipe fits into a healthy diet, reading a recipe, measuring ingredients and much more. Suitable for Primary & Secondary students, tailored to each year level.

Mastering the Basics

This program is run over a series of four 2 hour workshops, where each week we will create a recipe focusing on a new cooking technique each week. By the end of the program, your students will be well on their way to becoming masterchefs! Suitable for Primary & Secondary students, tailored to each year level.

Cooking Course

Run over 10 x 2 hour sessions, this incursion is perfect for secondary schools without a Food Technology program or kitchen facilities. Taught in a standard classroom or multipurpose space, this course will teach your students valuable cooking skills they will keep with them for the rest of their lives. Suitable for Primary & Secondary School students.
Holiday Cooking

What better way to celebrate Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Mother’s Day, or even Chinese New Year than with a cooking incursion? With loads of recipes to choose from your students will have a ball and get right into the spirit of the holiday. Suitable for Primary & Secondary School students.

Cooking From Around The World

In this eye opening incursion, your students will learn how to cook a recipe from the culture of your choice, learn about the ingredients and even study the origins of the recipe. What better way to gain insight into a culture than through its food, perfect if you are studying different cultures in class. Suitable for Primary & Secondary School students.
Lunchbox Ideas

Put some excitement back in your students lunchboxes! In this incursion, your students will learn the components of a healthy lunchbox and challenged to cook a main lunchbox item and snack. Suitable for Primary & Secondary School students.

Cooking On A Budget

The art of budgeting is one of the most important life skills our kids can have. In this incursion your students will learn the importance of budgeting, learn some handy money saving tips and will be challenged to create and cook a recipe on a strict budget. Suitable for Secondary School students.

Cooking With The 5 Food Groups

What a fun way to learn about the 5 food groups, your students will learn about the five food groups and challenged to create and cook a recipe which includes them all! Suitable for Primary School students.

Birthday Parties

Do you have a mini-masterchef celebrating a birthday? Why not try something different this year and leave it to Sticky Fingers Cooking School? Our kids’ cooking parties are a fun, creative and hands-on way for your child and their guests to enjoy their special day.

Suitable for children aged 4-14, we just know they’re going to love getting their hands dirty as our party hosts take them on a delicious adventure.

Best of all we do it all… we’ll look after setting up, cleaning up, catering, entertainment, invitations, we even look after the birthday cake and party favours! We come to you or you come to us. Multiple venues are available including Seabrook, Waurn Ponds, Lara, Torquay & Ocean Grove or enquire about a venue near you.

Our birthday cooking party packages start at $350 for up to 10 children, additional guests are charged at $20.00 each up to 30 children in total.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you supply party favours?

The children will take their creations and a chef hat they have decorated themselves home. Party bags can be supplied at an additional cost of $5 per child which include 1 cooking utensil, stickers and a variety of lollies/chocolates.

My child has an allergy, do you cater for children with allergies?

We cater for any allergies! Upon booking we will ask for details on any children with allergies/intolerances or dietary restrictions and ask the parents of the child to complete a form for our records. We will cater for the child to the best of our abilities on the day by supplying alternatives to ensure they don’t feel left out. Rest assured, all of our recipes and snack food is nut free.

Do the parents have to stick around for the party?

Feel free to take this time as a well-earned break! We try to finish off the party with the cake cutting and singing of happy birthday. If you arrive back just before the end of the party, you’ll be just in time to join in on the birthday cake celebrations.

If parents do wish to stay, we are able to make available antipasto platters and hot/cold drinks at an additional cost.

Do you supply a birthday cake?

When it comes to the birthday cake, for most of our parties (excluding the cookie recipes for the under 6-year-olds) we will supply cupcakes to the guests to decorate themselves. At the end of the party, we will place them on a stand, throw some candles in and voila a birthday cake they have created themselves! The children usually love this idea. If you are after something in particular, we have partnered with a local cake designer who can whip up something special or you are always more than welcome to supply your own cake.

Do you have public liability insurance and working with children checks?

Yes and yes! We ensure all of our staff have up to date WWCC.

What exactly does the party entail?

The children will arrive, put on a colourful apron and head on over to our cooking table where they will begin decorating their very own chef hat. Once everyone has arrived and has their chef hats on, the cooking will begin! Each child will prepare their very own portion of the recipe chosen in advance.

While this is baking/setting in the fridge we will entertain ourselves with cooking related games, eating snack food and decorating cupcakes (not included in the cookie recipe parties). We then end the party with the cutting of the cake/cupcakes and singing happy birthday before everyone is on their way with their creations to take home.

Do we need to supply anything?

If you’re coming to us, then you don’t have to bring a thing! If we’re coming to you, it would be great if you could supply a couple of tables for the children to cook on, if you don’t have any large enough we can bring along our own. They can be set up outside (weather permitting) or inside it’s totally up to you, and we will need access to your oven, fridge  & running water. All other equipment, ingredients, food, drinks, aprons… you name it, is supplied by us!

Do you supply the invitations?

We do! Upon booking confirmation, a PDF copy of the invitations will be emailed to you, all you have to do is fill in each child’s name.
